Making your ideas a reality

So. We’ve got the idea. We’ve got the story. Our next job is working out what our brand should look like Its visual identity and sound like Its verbal identity .
Every process is adapted to the brief we’re working on, but they roughly follow the same method:

Getting started can be the hardest part. So, before you start making anything, put a plan together.

Go far and wide
Rather than making any decisions, we start by looking for references and exploring lots of different visual mechanics. These help us create moodboards and give us a real taste for the ideas we’ve got on the table.

Where you can make your ideas your own.

Combine your ingredients
Mix, match elements of your moodboards to create something original and distinctive.

Get your burners going
Sketch out elements for each of your ideas – logo, colour, type — and think about the kind of brand the brand idea might inspire. Fun or sophisticated? Type-driven or illustration-led?

Keep cooking!
The trick is to experiment and make as much as possible. Set yourself targets to hit each day. You never know where your best thinking will come from.

Once your designs start to take shape, think about:

Which ones best reflect the brand idea?
Is there a unified system emerging?
Does it strike the tone you’re going for?
Are you excited by it? Is it good work?
You’ll know you’re getting to something good when a clear graphic design system starts to emerge.
